Bound volume containing manuscript minutes in the hand of L. Benson and others of meetings of the Creek Nation Committee on Education. The minutes document the committee's discussions of the education of Indian and "colored" students, school appropriations, the building of schools for boarding students and orphans, changes in tribal policy regarding Baptist and Presbyterian mission schools within the Nation, and other issues. Included in the volume is a manuscript transcript of an act by the National Council of the Muskogee Nation to establish a board of education dated 1890 Oct 23; various manuscript copies of Board of Education documents; and the contract between the Creek Nation and Board of Home Missions of the Presbyterian Church regarding the Nuyaka Mission. Manuscript essays in an unidentified hand on religious themes, rough architectural sketches of unidentified buildings, and miscellaneous notes and arithmetic computations are also contained in the volume. Committee chairmen and other individuals mentioned in the volume include G. A. Alexander, C. Coachman, G. W. Hill, William Perryman, and Austin Anderson.
